Re: Suspend issues on Karmic ¿x86_64?

FWIW, I have Jaunty 64bit and don't have problems with suspend or hibernate. Once I figured out the X11 virtual screens, I'm able to use suspend to change in and out of my docking station without too much effort. Simone, I haven't observed those problems with the dim monitor. I'm loathe to switch to a non-LTS version of Ubuntu, as I was burned when I did that with Intrepid.

Works more or less fine here, 9.10 64b, and not even a fresh install: I had upgraded from 9.04. Both suspend and hibernate work, whichever way I start it (power button, closing the lid, command line...).

Only one issue, very inconsistent and very rare: most of the time my laptop is on a docking station with an additional monitor attached. On resume, sometimes the laptop screen is very very dim, nearly invisible and definitely not usable. I still haven't figured out how to increase the luminosity (the obvious usual things don't work). Funny thing is, a reboot will not fix it! I have to completely power off the machine, and then restart it pressing the power button. I guess is something to do with bios, does anybody have any suggestions?

Cheers

Alright, thank you very much.
So, now my question is:
Does suspend work to anyone using 64bits Karmic?

  	Hi,

My lappy configuration is fairly same as your, except BIOS (not A13, maybe A11 I don't remember) and SSD harddisk (my dream :D). My distro is Karmic 32-bit, yours is 64-bit, maybe that's difference.

My BT doesn't work, yours does.
My suspend function work (I have not tried hibernate yet.), yours doesn't.

You should install another version of Ubuntu, maybe 8.04 or 8.10, it works very good.

Regards.

    Hi,
I've tried to suspend with Fn+F1 several times but it fails. On
the other side, bluetooth has worked perfectly from the beggining.
What's hapenning Dell??, this is confusing. I'll write down my
laptop components to see if we can point out wich things work with
    each config.
    Latitude E4300:
       -BIOS: A13
       -CPU: Core2Duo P9400
       -Mem: 4096MB
       -HD: 128GB SSD
-Graphics: Intel GM45. Video BIOS version: v.1659
       -Audio : IDT 92HD71
       -WiFi: Intel Wireless
       -Bluetooth: installed
       -Broadband: Not installed
       -Latitude-ON: installed
       -OS: Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic x86_64

    Suspend -> Not working
Hibernate -> <4GB swap partition, so it fails as swap is no enough
Everything works mostly fine (some issues with touchpad and muting
    speakers while using dock)

Slackware works very good on E4300, tomorrow I will try it :)

stays black and on. It seems like it fails on the last step. It's
not critical now because it boots up pretty fast, but still a bit
    annoying.
