[Bug 1159836] [NEW] Calibre Disconnects USB Modem
Public bug reported:
I've been having this problem since a couple of days. I use my phone
(Nokia N8) as a usb modem to connect to internet from my pc. However, if
I start calibre while connected, my internet connection terminates and
the phone modem stops responding afterwards. It needs a full pc reboot
(and if I force-stopped calibre while it was communicating to the
device, a full phone reboot) for the net connection to work again.
Calibre version - 0.9.23
OS version - Ubuntu 10.04.4 LTS
The main clue I have is in dmesg:
[ 1114.811190] usb 1-5: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 15
[ 1114.941755] usb 1-5: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
[ 1114.942979] cdc_acm 1-5:1.1: ttyACM0: USB ACM device
[ 1114.944308] cdc_acm 1-5:1.3: ttyACM1: USB ACM device
[ 1116.731090] usb 1-5: usbfs: process 4192 (calibre) did not claim interface 0 before use
This line always comes up. I believe calibre must be doing something
wrong while listening for usb devices.
I tried to be clever and thought that adding the phone under the list of
ignored devices would fix it, but no help.
** Affects: calibre (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
