[Bug 1272804] [NEW] MTP Device hangs while Calibre is turned on in an Ubuntu VM

Public bug reported:

I have a mac os x Maverics running VMware Fusion 6.0.2 and an Ubuntu
13.10 VM running inside Fusion with Calibre 1.0.0 from the official
repo. When I connect my Android phone as a MTP device everything is fine
and both the internal storage and SD card mount just fine. When I launch
Calibre it does not recognize the MTP device (nothing shows up in the
GUI) and I can't access the storage through Nauitilus (Files) anymore
(though the device is present and seems to be mounted, any attempt to
access it 'times out'). When I close Calibre I can access the storage
just fine.

The MTP Device is Samsung GT-N7000 running latest stable Cyanogenmod.

P.S. I don't expect anyone to fix VM-related problems so if you triage
this bug or junk it is just fine.
