Hello,
I just wanted to ask what way of implementing bug/feature #1303524 a.k.a 
"share a folder over local network" should I choose.
First of all, the UI entry: I was thinking about a right-click menu 
entry (Share over network) that opens the folder properties window where 
there could be a new tab for basic sharing options.
Then, we need to choose a way to use samba: We need a stable, light, and 
"clean" solution. Why not, by writing an object that interact with the 
samba cli and config file (see How to Create a Network Share Via Samba 
Via CLI).
