While I'd of course love ubuntu to track samba's stable every 9 month
release schedule, you're probably right in asking me to go pester the
debian folks.

Along these lines, is there any chance anybody might be interested in a
PPA that followed the http://enterprisesamba.com/ packages, which appear
to track the current samba stable release?
