Re: [Question #193980]: winbind4-- where is winbindd?

Question #193980 on samba4 in Ubuntu changed:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba4/+question/193980

jack austin posted a new comment:
In Ubuntu Server 11.10, the package you need to install for Winbind is
simply called "winbind" and not "winbind4". The "winbind" package
provides the necessary components, including the "winbindd" daemon and
the login script.

To install Winbind on your Ubuntu Server, you can use the following
command:

shell

sudo apt-get install winbind
After the installation is complete, you should have access to the "winbindd" daemon and other required components. You can then proceed with configuring and using Winbind to make your Ubuntu Server a domain controller.

Please note that Ubuntu 11.10 is an older version and may not receive
official support or updates https://satscorecalculator.info. It's
recommended to consider using a more recent and supported version of
Ubuntu for security and compatibility reasons.

If you encounter any issues during the installation or configuration
process, it's advisable to refer to the official Ubuntu documentation or
seek assistance from the Ubuntu community forums, where you can find
detailed instructions and guidance specific to your version of Ubuntu.
