Re: [Question #193980]: winbind4-- where is winbindd?

Question #193980 on samba4 in Ubuntu changed:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba4/+question/193980

Rashadrosen posted a new comment:
It appears that you are trying to install winbind4 on Ubuntu Server
11.10 to set up your system as a domain controller. However, you've
noticed that the winbind4 package does not include winbindd or a login
script.

Please note that Ubuntu Server 11.10 has reached its end of life and is
no longer supported, which means that the official package repositories
may no longer provide the necessary packages or updates. It is
recommended to upgrade to a newer version of Ubuntu Server for continued
support and access to the latest packages.

If you are using a newer version of Ubuntu Server and still encountering
difficulties with winbind4, I would recommend the following steps:

Confirm that you have the correct package name: Double-check if the
package name is indeed "winbind4" or if it may be named differently.
It's possible that the package name has changed in newer versions.

Update your package repositories: Run the command "sudo apt update" to
ensure your system has the latest package information from the
repositories for more inormation visit https://bit.ly/3NOhZZC
