Re: [Question #193980]: winbind4-- where is winbindd?

Question #193980 on samba4 in Ubuntu changed:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba4/+question/193980

Alex Carter posted a new comment:
Interesting discussion here. I remember running into something similar
when trying to configure domain controller functionality on an older
Ubuntu build. Back then, I also noticed that certain expected binaries
like winbindd weren’t included where I thought they’d be.

What helped me was stepping back and checking related packages like
samba and winbind (instead of winbind4). Sometimes these differences
come from how Debian/Ubuntu package maintainers split components between
libraries and main executables.

By the way, if anyone’s also working on improving performance or upgrades on the system side — or even looking into hardware-related improvements like modern window replacement (totally different topic but still part of home/server environment comfort) — I found this useful:

Might not be directly related to Samba, but it’s surprising how small
infrastructure and environment tweaks together help create a more stable
and energy-efficient setup.

Hope this helps someone else running into the same question!
