Oh, and regarding your last question, no, the client should NOT be a
member of the epoptes group. This is the group for the users of the
epoptes GUI only (administrators/teachers).

Although it most probably isn't related to your problem, you should take
the client user out of the group epoptes, unless you want him to be able
to control other clients by opening the epoptes GUI.
