Hi, this is an interesting question. I don't have the exact answer yet
but I'll test it.

We use Inno Setup for the installer. There is no administrator privilege
required, except maybe for registering the file associations keys. For
the rest we don't use registry. The installer create the folder and
files in the "Program Files" directory. For now the installer creates
shortcuts and desktop icons only in the current user, maybe this can be
changes to put it in "All Users".

When running, Gephi uses a .gephidestop folder in the user folder to
run.

What happens when you try to run the executable on a restricted user?
some error message ?
