Hello,
I have recently noticed that on Intrepid some package building rules are
being changed to compress the packages using lzma (7zip), for some packages
this shows a significant increase on the compression ratio.
I have played with it for some packages and until now the only package which
got larger by using it was the urbanet terror data, so may recommendation is
to try it with your package buildings.



How to use:
for CDBS debian/rules,
  add DEB_DH_BUILDDEB_ARGS := -- -Z lzma
for debhelper debian/rules
  add -- -Z lzma to yout dh_builddeb line
