[Question #209779]: what kind of data is presented to the user?

New question #209779 on Graphite:
https://answers.launchpad.net/graphite/+question/209779

there is a glut of programs that look at really simple admin like items and graph them (such as system uptime, disk usage, memory usage), but there doesn't seem to be much out there that graphs more details items (sar data, postgres/mysql/sqlite performance metrics, and so on).

also, there are always items that will be interesting for a user specific for a particular application. this will require plugins to make it work.

what kinds of metrics are recorded and graphed for graphite?

lastly, i expect it does all this remotely... e.g there's a server that records this information from agents on other hosts... i'm thinking hyperic kind of activities here. is there a way of getting a single snapshot of data at this moment? i do a lot of performance testing and i want to know what the system is doing when i reach a single data point. i can then graph my data points with a performance overlay (for instance, how many pages per system was the system managing during this data point collection).
