[Question #225256]: Graphite slow on Raspberry Pi
New question #225256 on Graphite:
https://answers.launchpad.net/graphite/+question/225256
I am running graphite, carbon and whisper on an Raspberry Pi. The logging of data to carbon/whisper seems to work without problem or much load, its just the graphite web frontend is sooo very slow! I figured it was the fact the data is stored on an SD card and the amount of metrics that need to be read to render a graph was the bottle neck. But it seems even the dashboard takes 20 seconds to load before any of the metrics in the tree are expanded out. Drilling down to to the metrics takes 10 seconds per click on tree item to load. So it seems slow from the word go, not just when accessing actual metric data. As you can imagine, building a graph takes quite some time! I have bookmarked some finished graph images which take 20secs - 2 mins to render depending what time range they show. I was thinking of adding a duplicate set of metrics with much lower resolution and retention for quick browsing, but the dashboard seems slow no matter what. CPU usage by httpd is very high while things are slow and loading.
So the questions are... does anyone run graphite on a rPi? Are there any optimisations that could be made to speed up the dashboard? And any idea what the bottle neck is? Is it just the 700MHz cpu cant handle it? Would something other than Apache be a better choice? etc... :)
Thanks
