Status in Getting Things GNOME!: Confirmed
Bug description:
Currently, GTG has 4 menus: Tasks, Edit, View, PLugins, Help.
Recently, with the merge of the preference dialog, the Plugins menu has disappeared (maybe just temporarily), which makes me think: shouldn't re-think menus a little. There are some issues with the current configuration:
- "Tasks" menu is inadequate for actions such "Quit"
- "Tasks" menu action feel much more like the content of the "Edit" menu, since those actions are related to task edition
- "Plugins" focus is too broad: plugins actions should be added to an adequate menu, or at least show under a "Tools" menu, which would feel more adequate than "plugins".
So I would suggest this:
- Move task edition actions from "Tasks" menu in "Edit" menu
- Rename "Tasks" menu in "File" (because it's the norm, although I would prefer something that makes more sense)
- Provide a "Tools" menu to replace the "Plugins" menu
Regarding the "Tools" menu, I would suggest that as long as it doesn't sport always-enabled (i.e. non-plugins) tools, it should be hidden when it is empty.
