One improvement that might help for the delay would be to keep a
reference to the ft instead of building it all the time. It would be
built only once when the tagtreeview is built and then you only have to
use the "get_nodes_nbr" function.

On gtg-refactor branch, the tag view is not showing the total counts, when launched using ./scripts/debug.sh - just shows 0.
