So ufw is running by default when I starting Ubuntu?

Status in GUI for ufw: Won't Fix

Bug description:
The latest update of Gufw (version 9.04.2 for Ubuntu 9.04) has the ability to have the program-icon in the menu next to the clock (in order to ensure that the program is running) disappeared. Is therefore uncertain whether the firewall is running.

Would be glad if the error was fixed so I know that the firewall is running.
