[Bug 825546] Re: Use external image storage API to put a thumbnail in Gwibber

Previous versions of gwibber did this as well. I consider it a
regression and really hope we can get it into 3.2. I had started
working on it a while back, but it really slowed down scrolling which is
important to me. I need get async loading of the thumbnails working in
a manner that doesn't slow down scrolling an consume to much memory.

Title:
Use external image storage API to put a thumbnail in Gwibber

Status in Gwibber:
  Triaged

Bug description:
  Hello,

For the tweets / dents containing a link to an image / video hosted at
Twitpic, Yfrog, Twitgoo, Lockerz, Imgur, Instagram, Twitvid etc... it
would be great to have, instead of the link repeated above the
message, directly a thumbnail view of the image in Gwibber, and click
on it would lead to the web page with photo in real size on the
  hosting site.

Like in Hotot for example. Of course it will work only if Twitter does
not re-short the URL with t.co but with Identica, no problem.
