Another thing to add:

In cases where alt text would be needed, I'm assuming the bullet point
ends up looking like a standard bullet point, however the user sees
that. (Colour-blindness is another quite common case to consider).

So, hopefully the user won't be told “there was something here, but you
can't see it,” which can be frustrating. Whatever was there just won't
be there and the opportunity-summary element, as well as the sorting
order of the list, will immediately fill the role.
