[Bug 807597] Re: enblend: out of memory -- bad allocation -- Error 1

Hi Michael

Strictly speaking the issue is with Enblend, not with Hugin. It is
Enblend that does the heavy lifting task of blending all individual
images into a single composite.

There is one version of Enblend with cacheing that theoretically works
with less memory, but that one is limited too. Moreover, there are bugs
in the cacheing code so I am not sure if you will get better results.
For more details, see this FAQ entry:

http://wiki.panotools.org/Hugin_FAQ#Enblend-
Enfuse_OpenMP_SSE_GPU:_which_one_is_the_right_one_for_me.3F

Memory is so cheap nowadays that few contributors are interested working
on optimizing the memory footprint. There have been on and off
discussions of using frameworks such as VIPS or GEGL, but no actual code
has emerged.

I will close this bug report, since strictly speaking this is not really
a bug but a limitation of your computing infrastructure.

Good luck with your future pano projects.
