[Bug 1307457] Re: focal length as reported by the GUI incorrect

I know that the focal length in Hugin is defined and implemented this
way. My point is that this definition is incompatible to the scientific
definition of the focal length.

Also note that the physical lens projection is not changed by switching
the assumed projection in Hugin. Only its *description*. The lens
used for the panorama - together with its focal length - remains the
same after all.

Title:
focal length as reported by the GUI incorrect

Status in Hugin - Panorama Tools GUI:
  Invalid

Bug description:
The focal length as shown in the GUI is incorrect. One has to
multiply this values by (1-a-b-c) to get the proper focal length.
This is because Hugin's distortion model scales the picture by this
factor, thus affecting the resulting focal length. See also the
  discussion at http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.misc.ptx/34865

One can easily test this by using different projections for the lens
model. This yields different values for the focal length. However,
multiplied by (1-a-b-c), the value is (within residual errors) the
  same.
