asus k53sj

Hi guys,

I've bought a laptop asus k53sj with intel + nvidia hybrid graphic and
I'd like to help you to make it works on linux.

Here are some tests bellow.

$ ./test_off.sh
Trying \_SB.PCI0.P0P1.VGA._OFF: failed
Trying \_SB.PCI0.P0P2.VGA._OFF: failed
Trying \_SB_.PCI0.OVGA.ATPX: failed
Trying \_SB_.PCI0.OVGA.XTPX: failed
Trying \_SB.PCI0.P0P3.PEGP._OFF: failed
Trying \_SB.PCI0.P0P2.PEGP._OFF: failed
Trying \_SB.PCI0.P0P1.PEGP._OFF: failed
Trying \_SB.PCI0.MXR0.MXM0._OFF: failed
Trying \_SB.PCI0.PEG1.GFX0._OFF: failed
Trying \_SB.PCI0.PEG0.GFX0.DOFF: failed
Trying \_SB.PCI0.PEG1.GFX0.DOFF: failed
Trying \_SB.PCI0.PEG0.PEGP._OFF: failed
Trying \_SB.PCI0.XVR0.Z01I.DGOF: failed
Trying \_SB.PCI0.PEGR.GFX0._OFF: works!

Unfortunately I couldn't test DSDT ON/OFF methods because I have no
folder /sys/kernel/vgaswitcheroo in my system, but I have an option in
kernel konfig

$ grep -i switcher /boot/config-2.6.*
CONFIG_VGA_SWITCHEROO=y

Maybe it will be useful:

$ uname -a
Linux andrew 2.6.38-8-generic #42-Ubuntu SMP Mon Apr 11 03:31:50 UTC
2011 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

Some more tests:

$ sudo dmidecode -s system-product-name
K53SJ

$ sudo dmidecode -s system-version
1.0

$ lspci -vnnn | perl -lne 'print if /^\d+\:.+(\[\S+\:\S+\])/' | grep VGA
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation 2nd
Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller
[8086:0116] (rev 09) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: nVidia Corporation Device
[10de:1050] (rev ff) (prog-if ff)

PS: Let me know please if I can do something more to help in your
work. I'm able to test some software if you provide me with
instructions

Thank you
