That's exactly why I wrote byo-switcheroo. Now you can play with
acpi_call on your system to figure out how to switch the mux and add
it to the switchto scripts. I've only got one hybrid graphics laptop,
and the MXMX/MXDS/_DSM script seems to work there.

Probably a nouveau problem, check dmesg and look for an "unsupported
chipset" error message. Thanks,
