Re: [Asus-ul30] State of ul30vt compatibility and support (bumblebee and switcheroo included)

Hi everyone,

Bumblebee is working really fine with Asus UL30, UL50 and UL80, which indeed are not Optimus laptop but Hybrid SLI one. Using the card is supported through optirun, and power management is enabled via bbswitch.

By the way, we do support Ubuntu 10.04, as Canonical does. So our PPA contains packages for 10.04 as well as for 11.04 and above (we recently dropped 10.10, official support has ended on April 10th).

I don't think there are ppas for 10.04, but I may be wrong.

PD: I installed gnome-classic in 12.04:

That's great news, my question now is what differences are there between the
U33JC and the ul30vt, I take it the U33 has optimus while the ul30 has
hybrid graphics. Will bumblebee work without the bios ide setting?
Does the bumblebee ppa support 10.04 (not ready to switch to unity or gnome
3 yet, still testing)?

Thanks again.

I tried the current bumblebee ppa packages on Ubuntu 12.04 and it
works like a charm in my Asus U33JC.

Hallo people,
I'm still using ubuntu lucid LTS (10.04) with the
x-swat team ppa enabled, a recent update has killed all functionality
when
using the nvidia driver (hangs at boot).
I'm now considering a system reinstall and I'm wondering what my options
are. More specifically I'm wondering whether bumblebee or switcheroo
allow
to use the nvidia card without the infamous ide compatible mode set in
bios.

TIAI t
