I managed to get VDPAU accelerated video playing working on my nvidia
optimus laptop, thanks to

The instructions are still a bit tedious, and one still needs to manually
define the resolution in the config file, which allegedly could be done
more elegantly.

I would like to ask: are there any plans to simplify VDPAU accelerated
video playing for nvidia optimus, maybe along the code in bumblebee?
