Re: future of python26-lxml and other python26 modules

It has been over two weeks and we have yet to anyone wanting to keep the python26 modules. As of today, we will EOL the following python26 modules:

python26-lxml
python26-jsonschema
python26-memcached
python26-elixir

These packages will still be available in the archive repos.

The incompatibilities with Python 2.6 -> 2.7 are pretty minimal, and most modern software targets 2.7+. If nothing notable depends on python26, then I am fully in support of dropping python26 packages in favor of python27, which people should be using anyway.

We are going to give a two week window for comments. If we don't hear
anything by September 29th, we will proceed with EOLing the python26
modules.

Thanks,
Ben and the rest of the IUS covedev team
