I am looking into upgrading libmemcached to the latest version (1.0.17),
but I ran into some issues.   Here is the bug I submitted with
libmemcached:

I was able to get 1.0.16 compiled with SASL enabled.  The packages have
been built and tagged as test-candidate. They will be in placed in the
testing repos tonight and can take around 24 hours to hit all the
mirrors.
