you can fix it by setting:

listen.mode=0666

on the pool config (default: /etc/php-fpm.d/www.conf), this is however a
regression since it breaks working installations, default values are not
usually changed between minor versions. Same regression is also on 5.4
and 5.5 packages.

  error 500 after update php53u-5.3.28-2

Bug description:
  Many complain from Kloxo-MR users after update their php53u to
  5.3.28-2.

  All website will be appear 'error 500' (error '503' in hiawatha
  webserver).

  Look like something wrong with php-fpm. No error report in log file.
