Re: [Bug 1180156] Re: Brightness keys not working Lenovo E430.
I got it working with the windows 2012 grub boot parameter that I found on
Google, which reads:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash acpi_osi=\"!Windows 2012\""
I also noticed starting with Linux kernel 3.10, this is supported out of
the box with no need to put in any grub parameters.
Thank you.

Title:
Brightness keys not working Lenovo E430.
Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
Expired
Bug description:
Ubuntu 13.04, Lenovo E430.
The brightness keys on this laptop act a little strange. If I hit the
brightness down key, it will drop the brightness to about 1%. If I
press brightness up, it does nothing at all. I see the pop ups come up
as if it's trying, but it never actually changes the brightness at
all.
If I go into the brightness and lock menu from system settings and
adjust the brightness via the slider it works absolutely fine. This
makes me wonder a few things. What is the difference between the
function keys and the slider in system settings? How is it one works
and the other doesn't? Is there a way to re-map the function keys to
adjust the brightness slider?
Also - I tried the mainline 3.9 kernel and it acted 100% identical to
the Ubuntu 3.8 kernel.
