[Bug 1177963] Re: Backlight switches of on Ubuntu 13.04 boot-screen - Dell XPS12

I added "acpi_backlight=vendor" to the grub parameters
(/etc/default/grub). Fixes the backlight issue, in my Inspiron R14

Title:
Backlight switches of on Ubuntu 13.04 boot-screen - Dell XPS12

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Hello

I have a Dell XPS12 and the problem that the backlight gets turned off on the Ubuntu 13.04 boot-screen.
The system starts up normally, at the grub menu the brightness is normal and as soon as the Ubuntu boot-screen appears the brightness is set to minimal level (what unfortunately means completely turned off).
The hot-keys work, so that I can immediately adjust the brightness and log in to the system - but it is very annoying.
I tested 3.8.18, 3.8.19, 3.8.20 as well as mainline 3.9.0 and 3.9.1 kernel but the bug persists. Or could it be a bug in the grub config?

Please let me know what log or config files may be helpful.

  Thanks in advance
