[Bug 1153799] Re: Webcam stopped to work after installing updates on clean Ubuntu 12.10 install
Andriy Yaroshchuk, as per http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers an
update is available for your BIOS (1.22). If you update to this, does it
change anything?
If not, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
Thank you for your understanding.

Title:
Webcam stopped to work after installing updates on clean Ubuntu 12.10
install
Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
So I tried to reproduce the issue and I am now sure that installing all updates on the fresh 12.10 install brings a black picture to the webcam on my Acer Laptop.
I tried Cheese and Skype on the fresh install of Ubuntu 12.10 without updates - everything works just fine.
After I have installed all of the 270+ updates my webcam just gives me a black picture in both Cheese and Skype and the LED is flashing just as usually.
So updates seem to affect the functionality of my webcam.
