[Bug 1059857] Re: SD card reader not working anymore in Dell Vostro 1310 laptop

Oliver Bedford, as per
www.dell.com/support/troubleshooting/us/en/19/Product/vostro-1310 an
update is available for your BIOS (A15). If you update to this, does it
change anything?

If not, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

Thank you for your understanding.

** Tags added: bios-outdated-a15 regression-release

** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu)
       Status: Confirmed => Incomplete

Title:
  SD card reader not working anymore in Dell Vostro 1310 laptop

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  The internal SD card reader of my Dell Vostro 1310 laptop does not
  recognise SDHC cards anymore (with Ubuntu 10.04 it did; same card,
  same machine, Windows Vista works fine).

  /var/log/syslog reports after inserting the card:
  Oct 1 23:30:57 hermes kernel: [ 587.604396] sdhci: Switching to 1.8V signalling voltage failed, retrying with S18R set to 0
  Oct 1 23:31:07 hermes kernel: [ 597.632171] mmc0: Timeout waiting for hardware interrupt.
  Oct 1 23:31:17 hermes kernel: [ 607.648155] mmc0: Timeout waiting for hardware interrupt.

  No device /dev/mmc*

  Booting with the SDHC card inserted does not help.

  There seems to be a lot of similar (but not identical) bug reports...

  Regards,
  Oliver
