[Bug 611083] Re: [Lucid] Nvidia GeForce 9600 GT doesn't recognize monitor resolutions
Steve Conklin, This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .
If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:
apport-collect -p linux <replace-with-bug-number>
** Tags added: bios-outdated-3.10
** Description changed:
All modes reported by the monitor are rejected as exceeding hfreq range.
+
+ WORKAROUND: First, I enabled KMS again to get back to the original failure (blank screen).
+ Then I logged in via ssh and created an xorg.conf:
+
+ sudo bash
+ # service gdm stop
+ # Xorg -configure
+ # mv corg.conf.new /etc/X11/xorg.conf
+
+ Now edit the nre xorg.conf file and change the line that says
+ Driver "nvidia"
+ to be
+ Driver "nv"
