[Bug 1419275] Re: Thinkpad T530 major suspend /automatic wakeup problem -- unresolved

Joseph Salisbury --- the situation with the upstream kernel is that I
have received information from one IT specialist who told me the
following:

"First, don't compile your own kernel unless you really are sure it is a
kernel problem. Usually suspend should work fine out of the box,
although some systems have problems in general with either suspend to
disk or suspend to ram. (If you really need to install another kernel,
it shows up in your boot menu. You may have to reload your boot manager
first, though -> sudo update-grub2. But generally, try to avoid things
like that, it probably won't help you, but give you more problems
instead.)"

I indeed did try to boot from this, but I couldn't get it working so quickly.
But indeed, considering the citation, I would leave the experimentations with the upstream kernel for the later stage.

I believe I run the right command and you should have all the
information needed about my system right now.

Regards,
Alari

Title:
Thinkpad T530 major suspend /automatic wakeup problem -- unresolved

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Hello!

I've scanned many bug topics here for my problem, but none of the
  things, for example http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1978290 ,
I tried have solved my problem.

So my problem is that my Thinkpad T530 won't suspend anymore at all --
what happens is just a flash of screen and return to the previous
view. It seems that there could be something that automatically wakes
the laptop at an instant later.

I have suspected it might be related to mDNS activity but since I
don't have any knowledge about Ubuntu, I'd better not speculate. I
couldn't find my Ubuntu package name from this apt-cache file...

  The syslog says the following:
