[Bug 1424366] Re: xorg stops refreshing screen on acpid client disconnect

Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a
prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v4.0 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

Title:
xorg stops refreshing screen on acpid client disconnect

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I'm using nvidia-346 drivers on my Alienware m15 (Jan 2015 model) with
nvidia-prime. The problem I'm having is that during normal use and
playing games, the keyboard and mouse appear to suddenly stop working.

When this happened during a game I realised the screen had stopped
updating, going to the terminal and back again fixes the problem.

During this, the game is still playing fyi. Oh, the only thing I can
  see during this freeze is;

  Feb 22 11:49:18 d-deridex acpid: client 7500[0:0] has disconnected
  Feb 22 11:49:18 d-deridex acpid: client connected from 7500[0:0]
  Feb 22 11:49:18 d-deridex acpid: 1 client rule loaded
