[Bug 1218863] [NEW] Kernel Oops unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at 0000000000000ffc

Public bug reported:

I'm experiencing infrequent kernel oops situations (I think that's the
correct term) running 13.04 with kernel Ubuntu 3.8.0-29.42-generic
3.8.13.5.

This is a days-old machine with an up-to-date install of 13.04.

I'm not able to make this happen at will and as such cannot narrow it
down to any particular application or process.

Below is the most recent relevant log entries from /var/log/syslog.

I'm happy to provide further information but at present I don't
understand the situation clearly enough to know what might be useful or
relevant.
