[Bug 1438451] [NEW] laptop sometimes locks up when unplugging displayPort monitor

sometimes, but not always, when unplugging my displayPort external
monitor, the screen freezes & stops responding to any mouse/keyboard
presses.  This didn't happen in utopic, but started after upgrading to
vivid.
