[Bug 1272933] Re: [Dell Latitude E6440] suspend leads to black screen, laptop does not enter sleep.

I have still the problem with my Dell Latitude E6440 (but no AMD/Nvidia card, just the Intel integrated GPU). I have installed the latest BIOS version (A11).
I also have troubles with the wake-up from suspend on this laptop with Windows 7 64bit and with Fedora 21 64bits.
All 3 systems are running the latest version of their respective software packages. And I have enabled the hardware enablement stack on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.
But still no luck.

Behaviour: it often wakes up but then either "input" error are reported
on the console and the integrated keyboard is not usable, or it seems to
wake up but then shortly after they are display artefacts (label of
application disappearing, etc.) and then nothing works (apart from
moving the mouse and switching virtual consoles) it is not possible to
perform a clean shutdown in these cases (when I happen to manage to open
a text console, I usually do not see particular errors, but last time
there was all over ATA errors being displayed, though that was on Fedora
and not Ubuntu that time).

I can't attach any log or dump, etc. as the last message in the log
before the reboot is something like "Suspend succeeded". So nothing is
log, traced, etc.

[Dell Latitude E6440] suspend leads to black screen, laptop does not

Bug description:
  I have a Dell Latitude E6440 laptop
  (http://www.ubuntu.com/certification/hardware/201306-13687/), with the
switchable AMD graphics option, running Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS.

I followed the installation instructions provided by Dell:
  http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/rc1046313/DriverDetails/Product/latitude-e6440-laptop?driverId=Y24FF&osCode=1204A&fileId=3332894306&languageCode=EN&categoryId=CS

And after installation of Ubuntu and the Dell driver package, the
laptop is running very well. However, I suffer from a bug preventing
my laptop to suspend. On suspend, the screen just turns black but the
laptop is still powered on. None of the key combinations I tried was
able to restore the display, forcing me to do a hard shut down.

Suspend sometimes does work but is very rare. I could not identify a
pattern. One time where suspend worked consecutively, I got a kernel
panic, which I took a screenshot of using my phone.

I have also tried performing suspend on Ubuntu 12.04.3 using both Live
CD and a clean install, but same thing happens. I also have an install
of Debian Unstable, same symptoms with suspend on kernel version 3.12
  and 3.13.

Please let me know what type of information I can provide to help fix
this bug. Please be verbose, as my kernel debugging skills are non-
  existent.
