[Bug 1451239] Re: SD Card Reader Problems
Arnett Carroll, as per http://us.gateway.com/gw/en/US/content/drivers-
downloads an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is
available (2.21). If you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?
If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.
Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't
have to create a new bug report.
Once the BIOS is updated, and the information above is provided, then
please mark this report Status Confirmed.
Thank you for your understanding.

** Description changed:
- I have three laptop computers with SD Card Reader problems:
+ I installed 64-bit Ubuntu Linux on a Gateway NE56R41u laptop. It
+ recognizes and mounts the SD Card volume when it installs but will not
+ find or mount it afterward.
- I installed 64-bit Ubuntu Linux on a Gateway NE56R41u laptop. It
- recgognizes and mounts the SD Card volume when it installs but will not
- find or mount it afterward. It recognizes these usb SD Card Readers.:
-
- A. SIYOTEAM Model SYM83 - mounts
- B. Micro S USB 2.0 - mounts
- C. All-in-One Mini Multi in One Memory Card Reader - mounts
- D. Internal SD Card Reader - mounts
-
- I installed 32-bit Ubuntu Linux on a Dell Latitude D510 laptop
-
- A. SIYOTEAM Model SYM83 - mounts
- B. Micro S USB 2.0 - doesn't mount
- C. All-in-One Mini Multi in one Memory Card Reader - doesn't mount
- D. Acer 4-in-1 PCMIA SD Card Reader - doesn't mount
-
- I installed 32-bit Linux Lite on a Dell Latitude C600 laptop
-
- A. SIYOTEAM Model SYM83 - does not mount
- B. Micro S USB 2.0 - does not mount
- C. All-In-One Mini Multi in one Memory Card Reader - mounts
-
- Is this related to the Linux Kernel itself? I cannot get drivers to work with these devices. The SIYOTEAM and Micro S readers may be having a problem with the Micro SD card itself.
