[Bug 1457936] Re: Network breaks in several minutess after upgrade to 3.13.0-53-generic

Hi, Christopher M. Penalver

I just upgraded my r8168 driver to realtek's latest driver(8.040),
which could be downloaded from
"http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=13&PFid=5&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false";.
And after this upgrade, my computer ran for nearly 2 hours and hasn't
met the network broken problem any more.

Regarding the r8168's driver in Ubuntu repository is 8.037, I think
it needs to be updated in Ubuntu's repository.

Therefore, I don't think it's necessary to try the upstream kernel
any more.

Please let me know if you have more concerns about this.

    Thanks.

Henry

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
After upgrade to 3.13.0-53-generic, the PC's network will break in
several minutes. Unplug and re-plug in the network cable will recover
the network, but will break again later. Reverting to 3.13.0.52 can
make network recover and work properly.
