[Bug 1460088] Re: Backlight control does not work on Asus Zenbook Pro UX501JW / Nvidia Geforce GTX 960M
"ishbalai, it appears all the backend infrastructure is in place, but
the hotkeys are the root cause issue here."
It does seem so I agree while running default configurations. But when
installing Nvidia's proprietary drivers all the information I provided
above is incorrect. The power management "slider" that I mentioned
disappears and there is no way to control the brightness.
So it may be another bug but still the same issue.

Title:
Backlight control does not work on Asus Zenbook Pro UX501JW / Nvidia
Geforce GTX 960M
Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
Hello!
Backlight control does not work on Asus Zenbook Pro UX501JW / Nvidia
Geforce GTX 960M.
What I mean by this is that the hotkeys for the backlight does not do
anything. The backlight can be manually set while running on the
integrated intel graphics. (Not with hotkeys).
The nvidia GPU is not detected until Nvidias official drivers are
installed. And after installing that driver (any version) the
backlight can not be changed at all.
I hope this can be solved!
