Title:
Intel C602 SAS crashes on resume

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  This is about the device
05:00.0 Serial Attached SCSI controller: Intel Corporation C602 chipset 4-Port SATA Storage Control Unit (rev 06).

  Steps to reproduce are:
   * Connect a SATA device (tested with hdd and dvd drive) to PHY 1 port.
   * Apply power and start ubuntu.
   * The device can be mounted and used without any problems.
   * Suspend the system (using unity menu)
   * The system enters suspend as expected (hdds spinning down, all fans are turned of as usual, power led blinking)
   * Resume the system using acpi power button.
   * The system resumes (devices spinning up ...)
*(a) In the case of a connected DVD drive the desktop becomes visible. Everything works at first, but when any program accesses the device (e.g. open VLC player, or the "Disk Utility" program -- even without DVD in the drive) the system freezes instantly.
*(b) In the case of a hdd the monitor stays off after resume.
   * In both cases I can't change to terminals using Ctrl+Alt+F1 and the system appears to be frozen. Reset.

For the hdd test case, the device was mentioned in the /etc/fstab with
default options as a simple data drive (neither boot nor swap
partitions on it, these are on a sata drive connected to a different
  controller).

The problem could be reproduced 5 out of 5 times. When no device is
connected to the SAS controller the suspend/resume works without any
issues. The setup was not tested with other ubuntu versions or other
distributions, but I can try it when necessary. Caps lock of my PS2
keyboard is NOT blinking when the system is frozen.
