I have a different laptop (a SAMSUNG ATIV Book 8 / Model: NP870Z5E-X01PT) but I'm experiencing the exact same issues, as reported here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1570820

It's possible that the underlying problem is the same.

I'd like to mention that the 4.4.6, upon which the current Ubuntu 16.04
official kernel is based, works fine for me. If it also works fine for
you, it may be a sign that the bug is not upstream but due to some extra
patching done to the official kernels. You can get here:

  Suspend problem with kernel 4.4

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  When I install the linux kernel 4.4 (any of it) my laptop won't go to
  suspend when I close the lid or press the suspend (sleep button) this
  does not happen with kernel 4.2.0-27 (not sure of other 4.2 kernels).
  My laptop is a Lenovo G50-70 with a Radeon R5 M230. (linux Mint 17.3
  Cinammon)
