[Bug 1590650] Re: Noisy white turquoise shadows in colors and since Xenial

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v4.7-rc1 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
"Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

Title:
Noisy white turquoise shadows in colors and since Xenial

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Hi,
since the upgrade to Xenial I've had graphic issues on my NAS/HTPC box.
All white is rendered as a noisy grey, and colors have a bunch of bright turquoise pixels.

Back then I've reverted to the old 4.2.0-35 kernel I had before and things were fine.
The recent update to 4.4.0-22 didn't help, so I decided it is time to debug and fix that since I don't know how much more LTS users might be affected.

I lack experience in debugging graphical issues, what are the right next steps?
  - are there obvious extra debug information sources that might help?
  - I tried most of the common troubleshooting guides without any effect, let me know if I should tweak any i915 parms or so.
  - would it be useful to go to a Yakkety kernel, and if this fixing it bisecting from there - if so on what tree - I don't want a full Y upgrade on this box?

I made some screenshots, but the issue is not visible there - this
might be a hint in itself as it should imply that the error so is
  "after" the graphics buffer right?

I'll attach the screenshots and cam shots of the same so you can see
  what I mean.
