After upgrading this laptop from 14.04 (LTS-Wily X & Kernel stack) to 16.04, I am no longer able to use external displays.  There are artifcacts on display that get worse with mouse movement.  Upgrading to a 4.7rc3 mainline kernel from the Ubuntu kernel PPA fixed the problem.
