Title:
Ubuntu doesn't remember hardware settings on reboot
Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
Some hardware options, such as screen brightness, bluetooth and
wireless on/off state and touchpad on/off led light.
Whenever I turn on my laptop, the screen brightness is always on
maximum, no matter how it was before shutdown; the bluetooth and wifi
are always off. The touchpad is ok (if I turn it off, then reboot, it
is sill off); the problem here lays on the touchpad status led: no
matter what's the real state of the touchpad, the led is always off
when I turn the computer on. The following scenario describes it
better:
(The led on is supposed to indicate when the touchpad is off)
Touchpad ON -> Led OFF (OK, so I turn it off)
Touchpad OFF -> Led ON (OK, let's reboot)
Touchpad OFF -> Led OFF (Here lays the problem: the touchpad is still off, but the led is on)
To get things normal again I have reboot the laptop with the led on,
so the led will be off and everything will be in sync again.
My laptop is a Dell XPS 15 (L502X)
I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.
I don't know what additional information I can provide (such as log
files), but I'll be happy to provide any helpful resource.
