[Bug 1247449] [NEW] Wired (Ethernet) not operational after suspend/resume

Public bug reported:

Previous version (Ubuntu 13.04 Raring) showed no problems with
reconnecting after and suspend/resume cycle. On the same hardware, Saucy
is unable to re-establish the wired Ethernet connection.

If I reload the network module (after resume: sudo modprobe r8169), networking is still not restored. Only the following manual sequence restores networking:
1. sudo modprobe -r r8169
2. sudo modprobe r8169

Also adding SUSPEND_MODULES="r8169" to "modules" (in /etc/pm/config.d/)
doesn't seem to help. Strangely enough, when resuming within a minute or
so (after suspend), the network connection is restored (with the added
modules file). Resuming after 5 minutes (and more) does not restore
network connection.
