[Bug 1247449] Re: Wired (Ethernet) not operational after suspend/resume
Tested with 3.12.0-031200rc7-generic. Same result: no network after
resume. Manually unloading and reloading r8169 module (via modprobe)
doesn't work. Restart required to get Ethernet connection u pand running
again.

Robenroute, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available (not the daily folder, but the one all the way at the bottom) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. Title:
Wired (Ethernet) not operational after suspend/resume
Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
Bug description:
Previous version (Ubuntu 13.04 Raring) showed no problems with
reconnecting after and suspend/resume cycle. On the same hardware,
Saucy is unable to re-establish the wired Ethernet connection.
If I reload the network module (after resume: sudo modprobe r8169), networking is still not restored. Only the following manual sequence restores networking:
1. sudo modprobe -r r8169
2. sudo modprobe r8169
Also adding SUSPEND_MODULES="r8169" to "modules" (in
/etc/pm/config.d/) doesn't seem to help. Strangely enough, when
resuming within a minute or so (after suspend), the network connection
is restored (with the added modules file). Resuming after 5 minutes
(and more) does not restore network connection.
