[Bug 1237541] Re: Artigo A1100 Fails to Boot/Install with 13.10 Beta 2
Redoubts, as per
http://www.viaembedded.com/en/products/systems/1351/4/ARTiGO_A1100_
%28Pico-ITX%29_%28EOL%29.html an update is available for your BIOS
(1.04). If you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BiosUpdate , does it change anything?
If not, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful.
For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.
Thank you for your understanding.

Title:
Artigo A1100 Fails to Boot/Install with 13.10 Beta 2
Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
I have an Artigo A1100 mini-computer, which ran Ubuntu 13.04 fine. Spec Sheet here:
http://www.viaembedded.com/en/products/DatasheetPreview/1351/11620/VIA_ARTiGO_A1100_datasheet_v110126.pdf.html
I attempted a clean install of 13.10 Beta 2 via a live USB, and found
the Live CD, Desktop Install, and Server install to all fail to load
properly. The Live CD / Desktop install failed to boot, and froze at
the point shown in the attachment. The cursor continued to blink, but
made no progress beyond that.
The Server Install becomes unresponsive at the language selection
screen - the first dialog of the text installer.
This appears to be a regression, as 13.04 and 12.04 both install and run fine on this hardware.
