[Bug 1252158] Re: e1000e drive fails after suspend. Manual rmmod/insmod fixes it. Intel 82574L NIC.

Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream stable kernel?
Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the
latest v3.2 stable kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot, please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as "Confirmed".

Thanks in advance.

Title:
e1000e drive fails after suspend. Manual rmmod/insmod fixes it.
  Intel 82574L NIC.

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
After upgrade to 12.04 LTS, resume after suspend results in no networking.
Unchecking "enable networking" and rechecking does nothing.
  ifup/ifdown do nothing.

  Networking can be restored with:
  # sudo rmmod e1000e
  # sudo insmod /lib/modules/3.2.0-56-generic/kernel/drivers/net/ethernet/intel/e1000e/e1000e.ko

Often pulling the network cable, and replugging, triggers the same
  issue.
