[Bug 1055419] Re: [Sony Corporation VGN-SR29XN_S] suspend/resume failure

Gavin Panella, as per http://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/product/VGN-
SR29XN_S/updates an update is available for your BIOS (R1130Y1). If you
update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BiosUpdate ,
does it change anything?

If not, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful.

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Thank you for your understanding.

Title:
  [Sony Corporation VGN-SR29XN_S] suspend/resume failure

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Suspend and resume last worked on Lucid on this machine, iirc. I'm
used to not having suspend, but I would very much like the option to
disable suspect/resume entirely, so that I cannot accidentally hit it
in a menu for example. If I do, and I have, I instantly lose
everything that I haven't saved; it is as effective as pulling out the
  battery.
